  • Select four trees suitable for growing in a garden situation
  • Identify six trees known as native to Great Britain and for what purpose they have been grown
  • Share an example of trees written about in poetry or prose
  • Explain the meaning of the “Green Man” and identify at least three trees used in religious practices either currently or throughout the ages
  • State three ways in which trees communicate with each other

Description

This course will look at the different ways that the lives of humans and trees have intertwined over the ages.

Course content:

A series of discussions about trees, both modern use and traditional as well as looking at some of the less researched botanical aspects of trees.

  • No experience needed.

What do I need to do this course?

Access to the Internet and a device to use Microsoft Teams.

To attend the sessions weekly.

Teaching Methods

  • Interactive lectures quizzes and student participation in research on the life of trees. Discussion of trees discovered by students during the course and it is hoped that leaves and bark may be studied to aid identification.
