Description

Always wanted to do yoga but not sure if it's for you?

Chair yoga is adapted if you're unable to stand for long periods or carry out strenuous exercises.

From mindful movement to breath exercises we'll cover the basics of yoga to help you increase your flexibility and strength.

Course content:

Chair yoga is adapted yoga for those unable to tolerate long periods of standing and other strenuous movements.

In this course Rebecca, an experienced yoga teacher, yoga therapist and nurse will introduce attendees to chair based practice that is appropriate for adults who struggle to stand for long periods of time. It may be that you have an illness or chronic condition or are convalescing from surgery so can't stand for long.

If that is the situation you find yourself in then this course will suit you. We will be discovering mindful movement, breath based practices and deep relaxation techniques to promote healthy movement, build strength and maintain joint and spine mobility. You can reap the benefits of carefully adapted yoga without risk or injury or discomfort.

The course will also help you to listen to your body and become more attuned to how you feel and have ideas about helping yourself with simple yoga techniques..

It would be preferable but not essential for participants to be able to lay on the floor. Assistance can be given to get up again.

Each session will be split into 2 sections. The timings may vary a little as it will be somewhat led buy participants questions and observations. The first section will be for introduction of the core topic of the day and how it applies to practice. The second part of the session will be the chair yoga practice with a little time left for further observations at the end of practice.
