During this course we will investigate the history of some dialect words and the reasons for their use and disuse. We will read various poems and tales written in dialect and identify the differences between those which are written in different parts of Lincolnshire. As well as translating Lincolnshire dialect into standard English, if time allows an attempt may be made to use Lincolnshire dialect to write a piece of poetry or prose
Previous knowledge or skill is not required.
Access to the Internet and use of a laptop or tablet and use of TEAMS. The ability to send an email and search for information on the internet. Be able to attend the online session each week.
Reading and listening to dialect spoken and written in different parts of Lincolnshire. Study of dialect dictionaries. Translation of Lincolnshire dialect. Possible production of written dialect.
