This course aims to further develop your maths skills, focusing on improving your abilities to a level where you may be able to progress to Level 2 Maths. The course allows you to build upon your maths skills, working towards more complex problems in everyday work and life situations.
This course enables you to develop your ability in mathematics. We will cover a range of skills during the course, from fractions and decimals, to negative numbers, using graphs and tables to represent data and understanding basic ratio and probability. Weekly homework and self-study is a requirement of the course. You will have weekly lessons during term time for the duration of the course.
Completion of an initial assessment to identify level of study.
Notepad and pen. Protractor, compass, calculator, ruler and pencils. ICT equipment such as a PC or laptop that can open PDF’s and Word documents, internet access, TEAMS platform downloaded, email address.
ICT use, practical activities, verbal questioning and discussions, handouts, and informal feedback, written feedback and self- assessment tasks.
Weekly feedback from tutor. Observation, questioning, group activities, mock exam, presentations and discussion.
Progress onto level 2 functional maths.
