Have you always considered working in a school or college setting but unsure where to start?
This course gives you an introduction to the various support roles you might be able to do whilst working in a school or college setting.
All whilst gaining a qualification!
We cover everything from administrative roles, technical roles, and roles working directly with young people.
You will complete six units for this course covering the following:
Knowledge and understanding of the school and college organisational structure and function.
To explore holistic development. You will also consider effects on development and the role of the support worker to support the child and young person when concerns are raised about an individual’s development.
Gain knowledge and understanding that underpins effective communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults.
How to raise an awareness of health and safety through knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures in a learning environment.
Show knowledge and understanding required for safeguarding children and young people.
To explore equality, diversity and inclusion. The unit will consider legislation, policy and procedure in schools and colleges to protect children and young people in a learning environment from the effects of discrimination.

This course is accessed through weekly virtual lessons delivered on Teams. However, you will have regular contact with the tutor via a range of methods to suit you, email, phone, web chats or tutorials. The weekly lessons will involve group discussions, group activities, professional discussion plus completing of workbooks.
Learners will be asked to complete a personal learning record and weekly feedback during their course.
The tutor will offer regular feedback through informal and formal methods.
You will complete your work online submit to our Moodle page for marking at regular intervals. The tutor will then give you feedback on your work as well as any areas for improvement or any additional knowledge you may need to research to meet the unit criteria. Monthly formal one to ones will be completed via Teams with a booked session each month to track progress.
You will be expected to give time to your studies which will all be completed at home.
You will need to dedicate 2-3 hours per week to complete all units in the allocated time.
