About Course

The purpose of this course is to increase learner’s knowledge and awareness of young people’s mental health.

Course content:

This unit will cover the concept of mental health providing an overview how society views mental health and how this has changed over time. Learners will also understand the risk factors that can affect young people’s mental health such as puberty, social media and bullying and how these can be mitigated. We will also discuss the legislation in place to support young people’s mental health and finally we will explore the differ types of treatment and support that is available for young people.

What do I need to do this course?

Pen and notepaper for making notes – it would also be advantageous to have access to a laptop/smart phone during the sessions for research purposes and to take part in the Kahoot quiz.

Requirements

    No formal entry requirements need but learners should have a keen interest in understanding young people mental health.

    It would also be advantageous for those wanting to a career in working with children and young people

Teaching Methods

  • The course will be delivered over two 3-hour sessions face to face across three CLIP sites – Mablethorpe. Market Rasen and the Bridge at Gainsborough.


    How is your progress checked?

    Session one- Objectives 1,2 & 3 will be measured by group discussion and a Kahoot quiz at the end of the session.

    Session two- Objective 3 & 4 will be measured by class discussion, a pairing game and a case study scenario.

    Extra study or practice required at home.
