What makes us different?
While we’re not unique, we do believe we have something unique in our delivery. And it’s not just that say that – leaners, parents and our partners all say it too.
‘A community anchor whose culture and ethics are steeped in reaching out to inspire marginalised young people and adults to achieve their potential.’ – Matrix 2024.
‘They provide opportunities for learners with previous low attainment to thrive and progress. Leaners make noteworthy progress, often from very low starting points.’ – Ofsted 2024.
What we offer:
Pastoral support: We make sure everyone on our programmes has access to 1-2-1 pastoral support. This is both offered voluntarily and if we feel extra support is needed, we’ll put it in place. This is not just for study support but for life skills, personal challenges, or support for assessments, referrals and wider support too.
Journey planning: As well as accessing career advice we offer wider information, advice and guidance throughout the whole programme. We provide the opportunity to explore different careers right from the start. And we make sure that young people take ownership of their futures and their journeys through exploring their paths with us with our trained team.
Safety first: All our teams are fully enhanced DBS-checked and have received enhances training in safeguarding. We always have specialists at our centres, and support in place to make sure that the wellbeing of our students is always put first. We additionally have specially trained team members in SEN, autism and domestic abuse, amongst others and access to wider wrap around support for anything young people may need.
Removing the financial burden
Flare is fully funded via the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and we offer extra financial assistance and support if its needed too. This includes:
- Free meals: offering breakfast and lunch for those who are eligible.
- Help with travel costs to any of our centres or visits that take place.
- Financial support for learning such as study kits, trips, experiences or wider work preparation support such as interview clothes.
Above all we want to make access to Flare affordable, and we don’t want financial worries of any kind to be a burden for learning. That’s why we make sure we maximise how we deliver our programmes to be as affordable as possible, and then have extra support in place for those who need it.
