- Recall and produce single signs from stages 7 and 8 and use them in simple sentence.
- Adapt their sentences depending on the needs of the communication partner.
- Communicate complex information in an accessible way.
- Translate and interpret a short story information.
- Sign with confidence, fluency and increase accuracy.
- Describe the benefits of Makaton, it’s history and how the Language Programme is structured.
- Identify practical ways to implement the use of Makaton within a professional setting.
- Demonstrate how the Makaton Design themes can be used to meet individual needs.
- Use a variety of everyday signs and symbols from stages 1-4 and the core vocabulary.
- Access further resource materials, training and workshops to develop professional practice.

Build on your foundations and take your Makaton skills to the next stage.
Makaton Level 2 expands your signing and symbol vocabulary, strengthens your confidence using Makaton in longer interactions, and helps you understand how to adapt communication for different needs and environments.
This course is perfect for those who have completed Level 1 and want to deepen their skills for use at home, in education, care or community settings.
You’ll learn additional functional vocabulary, practise structured conversations, and explore how to embed Makaton more naturally into daily routines and activities.
Fully funded spaces may be available for eligible learners, with small groups to ensure a supportive, hands-on learning experience.
Course content:
You will learn 250 Makaton signs and symbols over the 4 weeks. This will be done in a fun and interactive way with tutor support and guidance.

Teaching Methods
PowerPoint, verbal, DVDs, games, sign practice and discussions.
How is your progress checked?
Weekly feedback from tutor. Learners will be asked to complete a Personal Learning Record throughout their course and you may be asked to complete a feedback questionnaires for our funding bodies.
