Mental health presents one of the greatest challenges to our society. With an estimated 450 million people worldwide suffering from a mental health problem, around a quarter of British adults will experience some form of mental health problem within the course of a year. While many elements of mental health are still not understood, having a good knowledge of the information that is available is essential in the care sector.
This course focuses on the signs and symptoms of different mental health conditions and neurodiversity, and how to manage or support them, as well as gaining an understanding of mental health legislation and guidance.

An interest in understanding mental health. Good basic level of English and ability to write in sentences/paragraphs to meet the assignments required. You will be required to complete an online initial assessment prior to enrolment to ensure this course and the delivery style is correct for you.

This course is accessed on an online learning platform with all resources available. However, you will have regular contact with the tutor via a range of methods to suit you, email, phone, web chats or tutorials.
Learners will be asked to complete a personal learning record and weekly feedback during their course.
The tutor will offer regular feedback through informal and formal methods.
You will complete your work online for marking at regular intervals. The tutor will then give you feedback on your work as well as any areas for improvement or any additional knowledge you may need to research to meet the unit criteria. Monthly formal one to ones will be completed via Teams with a booked session each month.
You will be expected to give time to your studies which will all be completed at home via the learning portal.
You will need to dedicate 3-5 hours per week to complete all units in the allocated time.
