- 1. Select and safely use appropriate floristry tools, materials and equipment to produce floral designs in accordance with health and safety requirements.
- 2. Plan and create at least three different floral designs using a range of floristry techniques, materials and styles.
- 3. Demonstrate creativity and design skills by developing ideas from an initial concept through to a finished floral arrangement.
- 4. Evaluate completed floristry work, identifying at least two strengths and two areas for improvement for future designs.
- 5. Maintain a safe, organised and professional working environment throughout practical sessions while working independently and cooperatively with others.
About Course
This practical floristry course helps learners build on existing flower arranging skills while developing confidence, creativity and employability skills. Learners will explore a range of floristry techniques, materials and design styles, producing floral arrangements while working safely and effectively. The course provides a strong foundation for further floristry study, volunteering or employment opportunities.
Course content:
Learners will plan, produce and evaluate their own floristry craft work, developing their ability to generate ideas, select appropriate techniques and make informed creative decisions. They will reflect on their completed work, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
Learners will also prepare the appropriate tools, materials and equipment required to produce their floral item. They will demonstrate safe working practices throughout the process, maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety requirements.
What do I need to do this course?
Learners should bring a notebook and pen or pencil to take notes during lessons and record important information about techniques, materials and processes.
Learners should also have access to a camera or mobile phone camera so that they can take photographs of their completed floral designs. These photographs can be used to record their work and support the evaluation of their designs.
An apron should be worn during practical sessions to protect clothing and support safe and appropriate working practices.
Learners will be responsible for providing their own plant materials for the course. Materials should be suitable for the planned floristry activities and prepared appropriately before each lesson.
